Were having a baby!

This is the best day ever. We had an ultrasound this morning. Dr. Allbert was happy to report that the baby's head is measuring right on target. Baby Grayson's head completely stopped growing between 27-28 weeks. This baby's head is 28 weeks/4 days. PERFECT. Her whole body is growing perfectly! Her belly is even measuring 30 wks/1 day. Both Addie and Grayson were so tiny, this one might be a chubby one! How awesome is that?

The doctor also said that she has a 99% chance of survival with NO long term disabilites!

We're having a baby! Were actually going to take home a screaming, tiny eating machine with kissable cheeks and pinchable thighs. I think in the back of my head I have always thought that we were going to cross a road where someone was going to tell us that there is something wrong and it just wasnt meant to be. I am finally allowing myself to dream about feeling my baby in my arms, snuggling up to my neck, and smelling her baby soft skin. I picture her cooing, her legs and arms uncontrollably kicking away. Her first smiles, soon turning into belly laughs, and watching Addie play.

I'm over come with emotion today. Today is the day that a long awaited dream is starting to become a reality. I am so thankful.

Let the shopping begin!

  13. Amy, I have been praying for you and your family from the beginning. You all have been through so much and though we don't know each other personally I feel like you are a member of my family. These things show us how strong we are and even when we don't feel like being strong or feel like "thanks God, I'm good, I don't need for you to prove to me how strong I am". :) I am one of many people who are continuing to pray for your new little girl and am thrilled for when she is finally able to join your family. Will she ever know how many people "out there" have prayed for her? May you continue to feel the arms of "friends" near and far hold you and lift you up. Congratulations and... YAY!!! :)

  18. Amy,
I listen to Matt on the radio (though not often because most of the time my kids are in the car!). When I heard about your loss and it broke my heart. We too suffered a loss last year in May (he had a neural tube defect known as anencephaly). We learned of his defect at 19 weeks and I carried him to term. He was born on Mother's day (his due date) and lived for 19 hours.

I am currently pregnant again and just learned at my 17 week ultrasound that I too have placenta previa as well as possibly placenta accreta. I too am on bed rest and am scared to death of the possibilities.

Thank you for sharing your blog and your life. Congratulations on your wonderful news. I will by praying for you all....that you can last as long as possible before having to deliver your new beautiful baby girl.

  21. Hi Amy - I've been folowing your journey since I heard Matt say you were pregnant and he spoke about your high risk doc who's my doc too. Congrats on the great news and the milestone! I know I breathed a sigh of relief when I was told we'd passed the milestone ourselves. I'm now 32 weeks almost 33 with twins and am starting to plan the delivery! Keep up the good gestating and shop away! Enjoy it! You all deserve it!
